First impression of ProFX8 is very good. It's a lot more durable/heavy than the mg102c, and the knobs are constructed much better.
For example, all the knobs that have centering dent on MG102c doesn't line up well, some are off by a few degrees. But on this ProFX8 every dented knob line up beautifully pointing up. Knob turning pressure is also consistent and firm.
Really like the EQ on the Main output. As well as mute on every channel. Build-in FX effects are okay, you have to turn fx knob all the way up to feel anything.
When using USB to do recording (with Audacity) there is noticeable buzz sound along side any recording, regardless if microphone channel is turned off or not.
Microphone preamp is so-so I guess. I have a AKG d5 and SM58, with both mics I have to turn gain and channel volume to 90% to get a decent output.
But it does the function perfectly. Runs a little bit on the hot side. Power cable is kinda short, so you may want to look for a longer one.

I mostly use it for mixing:
Keyboard Casio LK-215
Yamaha DTXplorer 5-piece Electronic Drum Kit
Yamaha YDD40 Portable Digital Electronic Drums Premium Pack
and MP3 player for rehearse with my kids at home.
few days ago I recorded my performance (I'm a beginner drummer) with tracktion 3 software, and found a little noise on the usb input track. it is the only noise I found so far. The rest of the channels sounds great.
But after about 6-10 hours of use, it became obvious that MOST of the preamp gain pots were becoming flaky and unreliable. They scratch badly when turned, and at several positions they become almost silent until you kind of "bump" the knob. This is indicative of poor solder joints on these pots, which doesn't give me a ton of confidence about the build quality of the rest of the unit. This is just not acceptable, and I would have happily paid more for a higher quality unit. This mixer is only a good deal if it works well- and it's not working well.
Update: ALL preamps are now completely toast. This mixer is a total loss and will have to be replaced. What a waste of $179.99. (It's gone up, did you notice that?)
UPDATE:
This mixer is now being replaced. 3 out of the 5 preamps have starting randomly flaking out, and are so inconsistent and noisy that they are not worth fighting with. This mixer will be replaced by something OTHER than Mackie. I thought I'd dodged the bullet with this, because I wasn't planning on using the USB features. But it turns out, this thing is a lemon in every dimension. Really disappointed!
