ID3 Editor

The best way to edit ID3 tags on macOS and Windows!

ID3 Editor, by PA Software, is a small and simple MP3 and AIFF ID3 tag editor, which offers the ability to edit the most wanted attributes of your podcast ID3 tags in one window. This lets you edit more than iTunes / Apple Music, like the additional “copyright,” “encoded by,” and more tags.

MP3 ID3 tags are used to store important information on a podcast episode, such as the episode title, episode number (as the track number), artist, podcast name (as the “album”), episode artwork, and more. The information can then be displayed in countless players and automations.

For example, Overcast gets your episode artwork from these ID3 tags!

Command line interface (CLI) for advanced users

With the Command Line Interface (CLI), all of the functionality of ID3 Editor is available using a terminal and thus can be scripted using shell, batch scripts, or with other automation tools like Hazel. This is useful if fields need to be added to tracks quickly and without an interface for example, if you are releasing a podcast and want to add a feed prior to uploading it, then this can be performed in one script.

Copyright, URL, and Encoded by

As an avid podcaster, using ID3 Editor to clean MP3s before deployment is a must! You can also add a “copyright,” “URL,” and “encoded by” which will ensure your audience knows where the track originated from. You can even put plain-text show notes in your ID3 tags!

Podcast cover art and episode artwork

Put your podcast cover art or episode-specific artwork in your ID3 tags by simply dropping the image into the image drawer! ID3 Editor supports multiple pictures and multiple image formats (JPEG, PNG, GIF, and TIFF), it can even convert GIF and TIFF images to PNG to offer greater compatibility.
